This is a hilarious comedy about Texas third smallest town, where the Lion's Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies. The eclectic band of citizens that make up this town are portrayed by only two performers, making this satire on life in rural America even more delightful as they depict all of the inhabitants of Tuna; men, women, children and animals. It's a loving portrait of rural America - big hearts, small minds, and all! Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30, with Sunday at 2:00. Cost is $15.00 general admission. Saturday Sept. 5th will be two shows, a matinee at 2:00 p.m. and the evening show at 7:30. Beer and wine available at all shows with the exception of the Sunday matinee. 706-632-9223

3.2M Earthquake Felt on My Mountain

After an extremely busy week, I was on the sofa resting this morning at about 9:30. A rumbling sound started, built in intensity, accompanied by the house shaking. It sounded like very deep thunder, and the china cabinet shook sufficiently to rattle the glasses. It lasted 10-15 seconds. Turns out there was an earthquake centered right along the TN/GA/NC line, 5 km down, magnitude 3.2.

One of my geology friends from my Georgia Southern days, Sherry Rich (also a former USGS employee) is on the mountain two houses down from us and was on it like a bee on honey. She located the information and was extremely excited to have finally, after an entire career in geology, experienced her first earthquake.

I have to say, it was pretty cool.

So that's the news from here! :)
